Support Locally Grown in Marshall County with Sweet Grown Alabama

August 14, 2024

With inflation, high input costs, and fuel prices continuing to fluctuate, local farms and businesses need our support now more than ever.

Sweet Grown Alabama, the state’s non-profit agricultural branding program, easily connects consumers to locally grown products through an online searchable database at SweetGrownAlabama.org.

"Products grown right here in Alabama are simply better," said Sweet Grown Alabama Director Ellie Watson. "Not only do you get a better quality product, but buying locally-grown is better for the environment, better for our economy, and better for our health."

Sweet Grown Alabama represents over 400 members including farms, markets, grocery stores, restaurants and more.

Products sold by these businesses include produce, pecans, oysters, beef, cotton sheets, fresh flowers, honey and more.

Watson says multiple studies show that for every dollar spent locally, at least sixty cents is reinvested right back into local communities.
